Lawrence Working Families Initiative

For the past two and half years, LCW has been the lead agent on the Working Cities Challenge project here in our beloved city: the Lawrence Working Families Initiative (LWFI).  LWFI is a cross-sector collaborative that makes employment and family engagement the cornerstones of a comprehensive strategy to increase family economic success, support the Lawrence Public Schools (LPS) Turnaround goals, and increase quality of life for Lawrence families.  Together with 40 employer, nonprofit, and public-sector partners, we are working to advance the family economic stability and progress that is critical to student academic achievement and life success as well as community and economic vitality.  This is a “two-generation” approach to community change.

This documentary explores some of the results of that project by following two parents in their journeys to deeper engagement and employment.  Please take a look and enjoy Katherine and Jenniffer’s stories!
