English for Advancement

By on March 20, 2017

In 2017, Lawrence CommunityWorks and the Lawrence Working Families Initiative in partnership with Jewish Vocational Services has begun offering the English for Advancement program. The goal of this program is to improve students’ English skills in order to get a job, or a better job. The program model includes 9 hours of in-class instruction per week and one-on-one coaching sessions with a career coach. Students will stay in classes anywhere from 2-10 months, and classes will run throughout the calendar year.

Interested students can attend an information session on Thursdays at 11am or 2pm to learn more and sign-up for an assessment.

Ideal students for these classes are adults who:

  • Need to improve their English
  • Want a new or better job
  • Are legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Can attend 9 hours of class each week

Two classes have already begun and we look forward to starting 2 more classes soon.
