Diomaris Nieves

Diomaris Nieves was born and raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and is a dedicated community advocate and social worker currently serving as a Transition Service Coordinator with the Department of Developmental Services. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Suffolk University and has built her career supporting underserved populations, including individuals with disabilities, elder adults, at-risk youth, and families navigating complex systems of care.

Diomaris has volunteered with organizations such as Lawrence Community Works (LCW), Groundwork Lawrence, and the Lawrence Education and Justice Alliance (LEJA), demonstrating her ongoing commitment to community engagement and service. She is currently enrolled in the Aspiring Supervisors Cohort through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

 

As an incoming student at the Massachusetts School of Law in Andover, Diomaris aspires to further expand her expertise while building connections with professionals from diverse backgrounds. She is committed to deepening her understanding of both micro and macro sectors in order to collaborate on shared challenges and help bridge gaps in underserved communities, ultimately developing more equitable opportunities.

 

Diomaris is recognized for her hands on leadership and dedication to community empowerment. She actively organizes and participates in local initiatives, advocates for transparency and equitable access to resources, and works to amplify resident voices in meaningful and impactful ways. Her approach is rooted in collaboration, bringing together community members, organizations, and stakeholders to drive sustainable change.

 

As the recipient of the MIT 3 Trailblazer Award (Rising Star), Diomaris exemplifies the qualities of an emerging leader: vision, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to service. Her work continues to make a lasting impact in Lawrence, reflecting her passion for building stronger, more connected communities.
