The Myth That Made Us: Book Discussion
Lawrence Community Works (LCW), the community-centered development building corporation in the City of Lawrence, is proud to host author Jeff Fuhrer and his book, The Myth That Made Us (How False Beliefs About Racism and Meritocracy Broke Our Economy). The former Boston Federal Reserve Bank executive vice president argues in his book that systemic racism continues to produce vastly disparate outcomes, “but we can fix it.”

About Jeff Fuhrer
Jeff Fuhrer is a Non-Resident Fellow at the Brookings Institution and a Foundation Fellow at the Eastern Bank Foundation. He was previously executive vice president and director of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, where he was also responsible for the bank’s diversity and inclusion functions. He holds an MA and a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University and, from Princeton University, an MA and Ph.D. in Economics and a B.A. Economics, summa cum laude, ranked first in department.
